Image 1. Learning to manage your time is just like mastering calculus or a sport. To be successful requires practice, effort, and patience.

2. Keep a notebook for each class and make notes every day regarding what you have to do. Write down assignments and due dates. Oh, and look at it after school each day.

3. Keep a file for each class’s handouts and assignments.

4. Have a quiet, well-lit study space that’s away from the rest of the family. Study there at the same time—or as close to it as you can come—every day.

5. Allow enough time to study each subject.

6. Study difficult subjects first.

7. Plan ahead for big projects. Remind yourself that if a paper is due the first of December, starting it during Thanksgiving break is not a good idea.

8. If you get hungry or sleepy while studying, take a five- or ten-minute break.

9. Studying a little each day for a test is better than cramming. (You probably knew that.)
